Both Alto HRV and ERV have the capability to bring fresh air into the entire home in an energy-efficient and cost-effective way, since they can recover up to 80% of the heating and cooling energy from the air exchanged. But the Alto HRV will transfer temperature only from the high temperature air to the low temperature air. And Alto ERV will not only recover heat, further more, it also recuperates the energy trapped in moisture, which means transferring both temperature and moisture.
Alto ERV introduce the enthalphic technology exchange Core, which owns the superior heat-transfer and moisture permeability, to transfer both sensible (temperature) and latent (moisture) heat between the stale air exhausted to the outside and the fresh air that is brought inside. The non-cellulose membrane of the core allows water to pass through but not air, and won't deteriorate with constant exposure to moisture. So in humid climates and air conditioned homes, when it is more humid outside than inside, the ERV limits the amount of moisture coming into your home. And in dry climates and humidified homes, when the humidity level is reversed, the ERV limits the amount of moisture expelled from your home.
Alto ERV is ideal for warmer climates and high-humidity environments where high outdoor humidity is cause for operating air conditioning/dehumidification more frequently than a heating system.
